Ok let us begin by asking each and everyone of you to open your diaries right now and book the 1st July 2017 to help us in ANY capacity you can to support our main fundraising event of the BCC calendar.
This event is all in aid of the wonderful people of our local Bandon Community Hospital!
The Event in question is “500k in in a Day”.
What is it all about?
Bandon Cycling Club has volunteered three of our finest local loonies’ namely David Gillespie, Robert Merrick, and Liam O Reilly in order to attempt to cycle 500 kilometers in a day so the plan is that they will complete this unreal challenge within just 24 hours. These guys will be cycling for many hours in order to complete this mammoth challenge, so these guys need cyclists around them to keep them going and to create awareness as we go through each town.
So how can you get involved?
We need each and everyone of you to set your own distance challenge, ideally it’s something that’s really tough for you, and that you can honestly look back and say that you achieved something that’s beyond your normal spin.
This is naturally different for everyone it could be 100k, 150k, 200k, 300k, 400k and yes even 500k.
Ultimately whatever the distance you choose we just you out in large numbers to raise some money for this fabulous hospital and to create some noise in our lovely town of Bandon and surrounding areas. We literally want everyone to know that Bandon Cycling Club is serious about our local community hospital so the bigger the numbers the better. This is our very own version of the Ring of Kerry…… but on steroids!!.
We will be sending out sponsorship cards to all our members and we will be asking everyone to raise at least €100 per person.
The plan for the participating cyclists;-
We will have 4 starting times on offer so we need members to sign up for one of the below:-
All routes start and finish at Copper Grove where we can recharge the batteries with their fine fare and superb hospitality.
Now, if you don’t want to cycle but still really want to help don’t worry, we will need all on hands on deck running this event with support drivers, bucket shakers, bike mechanics and other logistics related stuff, just stick your hand in the air and we will gladly take your help.
Please register your interest by joining this event and tell us what you would like to do distance-wise cycling and/or helping out.
We will follow this post with a phone call to each and every one of our members in order to get everybody on board. With your help our great club can make this fundraising event a major success for our local Bandon Community Hospital.
We have put this out there but we literally cannot do this without with the help and support of each and everyone of you. So please, please help us to make this really fly and support our local community. The Ring of Kerry has nothing on us, let’s show them how to really do it.
Have a think about how you want to get involved and we will be in touch soon.
Thanks a million
